I’ve forgotten who said, “Religion is the tongs with which we hold the white hot heat of God at a distance.” We may not all say we are religious, but we all have a set of tongs.

Pretty Simple.

When people talk on and on about every last detail or every mundane thing they did and never really say anything interesting or amusing or clever or entertaining or gives me new knowledge or insight.

A litany of instructions.

A dull sermon.

Watching tennis.

Reading tedious non-fiction. Or tedious fiction for that matter.

Getting rid of the leaves, after the first time. They just keep falling, dammit.
